energy consumption and emissions from specific [ refrigerated ] containers while the vessel is underway and ashore,” Sappio said.
SeaCube is also teaming up with Thermo King and CMA CGM to demonstrate Thermo King’ s E-COOLPAC electric genset, one of the nation’ s first battery-powered refrigerated container gensets. E-COOLPAC is 100 % emission free and carbon neutral.
“ The environment is everyone’ s business, and helping our customers meet their ambitious decarbonization goals is a critical goal for SeaCube,” Sappio said.

PhilaPort, which anticipates handling about 1.6 million container units by 2040, is pressing forward with more plans to invest in its infrastructure, detailed in its Destination 2040 plan.
Phase 1 includes improving roads around Southport Auto Terminal and
Packer Avenue Marine Terminal— building a connector bridge that would link the northern and southern portions of Packer Avenue to enhance container flow, new cranes and berth improvements at Tioga Marine Terminal, and warehouse expansions to accommodate forest products at Piers 78 and 80, Mahoney said.
Forest products, the No. 1. breakbulk commodity that the port handlest, are expected to increase by an estimated 95 % by 2040, according to the strategic plan.
The 2040 plan also includes a longrange proposal to dredge the Delaware River shipping channel from 45 feet to 50 feet to stay competitive among other East Coast seaports. Supporters are pushing for the river deepening to 50 feet, which is instrumental for the port’ s future growth.
