“ These are functions individual shippers and logistics service providers can’ t do because it’ s a little bit beyond their own logistics systems. We connect all of that,” Wasserman said.
TradePort is focusing on Phase One on the corridor linking Southern California with Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Construction at the sites, which will range from 1,000 to about 5,000 acres in size, is estimated to begin in 18 months. Buildings to house warehouse and distribution operations and related logistics functions will be constructed, Wasserman said.
The TradePort corridor will hit a critical strategic location in Oklahoma City as additional corridors will be utilized. In phase two, the TradePort corridors will connect with Dallas, the mid-South, the Midwest, Chicago and the East Coast.
“ Once we reach Oklahoma City and cross the Mississippi River, the density of the project becomes much richer. We’ re working on sites for those locations,” Wasserman said.
Since work will proceed simultaneously at multiple hubs, it is anticipated that the system will be built out in about 10 years, Wasserman said.
