US shippers say they plan to keep inventories leaner even as they expect an uptick in revenue growth , according ot the lastet reading of the BlueGrace Logistics Confidence Index .
Nearly a quarter ( 21 %) of shipper respondents had a negative view of inventory for the third quarter compared with just 8 % for the first quarter .

US truckload spot rate ticks up
Weekly spot truckload rates per mile excluding fuel surcharges . In the last two weeks , DAT Freight and Analytics data indicates a mixed trend in spot rates . As of August 31 , the spot rate rose marginally to $ 1.61 , from $ 1.60 the previous week , marking a 0.6 % increase . Compared to last year , rates are up 1.3 % from $ 1.59 on September 2 , 2023 . This rise contrasts with the broader market trend where regional increases are isolated amidst a long-term decline .

Xeneta Asia-US West Coast short- and long-term rates
Xeneta aggregates freight rates for both short-term contracts valid for less than 32 days , and long-term contract that are valid for 87 days or more . Terminal Handling Charges ( THCs ) are excluded . The September 9 , 2024 average spot rate from Asia to US West Coast was $ 5,958 per FEU , down 1.3 % from the previous week . Long-term contract recently signed within three month increased 8.7 %, to $ 3,240 from previous week . Within the same period , long-term contracts rose 5.4 %, to $ 2,328 from the previous week .
