New maritime corridor boosts US-Mexico trade efficiency

The North American logistics sector is undergoing a signifi cant transformation with the announcement of a new direct maritime transport service, connecting the Mexican ports of Tuxpan and Coatzacoalcos with PhilaPort’ s Gloucester Marine Terminal. This initiative, led by Green Tide Logistics( GTL), is designed to offer a faster, more sustainable solution for moving goods between the Gulf of Mexico and the US East Coast.
The new maritime corridor is established as a strategic alternative to congested land transport routes, which often face logistical and time-related challenges. By leveraging a direct service, the transit time between Tuxpan and Philadelphia is expected to be reduced to just fi ve to six days. This not only accelerates product delivery but also improves the predictability and reliability of supply chains for companies in both countries.
GTL has positioned this corridor as a clean pathway, integrating the use of low-emission vessels and optimizing route management and vessel speed to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. This vision responds to the growing global demand for logistical solutions that are both effi cient and environmentally responsible.
PhilaPort plays a crucial role in this connection. As a port specializing in handling perishables and project cargo, the terminal offers direct access to major US highways and rail networks. Its advanced infrastructure and ability to handle various types of cargo ensures smooth operations and effi cient distribution of goods upon arrival.
“ This new corridor represents more than just a logistical route; it’ s a step forward in the transformation of cargo movement in North America,” said Hans Schriwer, CEO of GTL.
“ With a focus on effi ciency, sustainability and speed, we off er our clients a smarter, cleaner and strategically integrated supply chain. This service redefi nes how cargo moves between the Gulf of Mexico and the US East Coast,
