On Gateway
Congestion at major European ports is contributing to low ocean schedule reliability, with average on-time performance for vessels arriving in North Europe and the Mediterranean from Asia below 40 % since June, according to data from maritime intelligence provider eeSea. Reliability on both trades rebounded from severe lows in September but remained below 30 %. Longer transits around southern Africa to avoid the Red Sea and the injection of larger vessels into the Asia – Europe trade have also contributed to the persistent schedule delays.

Xeneta Asia to US West Coast short and long-term rates
Xeneta aggregates freight rates for both short-term contracts valid for less than 32 days, and long-term contracts valid for 87 days or more. Terminal Handling Charges( THCs) are excluded. The Oct. 16, 2025, average spot rate from Asia to the US West Coast was $ 1,099 per FEU, up 9.3 % from the previous week. Pricing in long-term contracts signed in the last three months slipped 0.4 % to $ 1,515 per FEU, while overall long-term contract term rates were unchanged at $ 1,614 per FEU.
