Mason Mega Rail managed over a half million container lifts in the port ’ s last fiscal year , but with an annual capacity of 1 million containers , there is plenty of uptake still available .
Shifting as much cargo to rail as possible is a best practice for inland supply chains because it gets cargo moving quickly , permitting the elimination of millions of tons of emissions each year . Georgia is now home to 900 million square feet of warehousing and distribution space , noted Georgia Power ’ s December 2024 Warehousing & Logistics Update . Approximately 20 million square feet were constructed within the last five years .
