Surging volumes , investments propel Georgia to industry ’ s forefront

“ Business wants what Georgia has ,” boasts the Georgia Department of Economic Development ’ s promotional campaigns . As a cornerstone of the freight system in the US Southeast — both geographically and operationally — 80 % of the nation ’ s population can be reached within two hours by plane or two days by truck from Georgia .
The “ Peach State ” and the United States overall are well-served by one of America ’ s fastest-growing port entities , the Georgia Ports Authority ( GPA ), and a booming statewide warehousing and logistics sector .
GPA ’ s operations include deepwater terminals at the ports of Savannah and Brunswick . These vital gateways move all cargoes — from massive turbines for power generation , to containers full of consumer goods and automobiles heading to buyers around the world .
