The Journal of Commerce has expanded its data partnership with online marketplace Freightos to include six new charts showing air cargo pricing on outbound lanes from China, Europe and the Middle East. Air freight rates from China to the US climbed sharply in the week leading up to Lunar New Year as export demand increased ahead of factory closures linked to China’ s most important holiday. The rate reached $ 7.40 per kg in the week of Feb. 15, up 50.4 % from the same week in 2025 and the highest so far in 2026, according to the Freightos Air Index.

DAT US truckload spot rates
Weekly spot truckload rates per mile excluding fuel surcharges. The DAT Freight and Analytics average US truckload spot rate was $ 2.06 per mile in the week of Feb. 7, 2026, up from $ 1.65 per mile in the same week last year and the highest since April 2023.

Xeneta Asia to US West Coast short and long-term rates
Xeneta aggregates freight rates for both short-term contracts valid for less than 32 days, and long-term contracts valid for 87 days or more. Terminal Handling Charges( THCs) are excluded. The Feb. 12, 2026, average spot rate from Asia to the US West Coast was $ 1,520 per FEU, down 1 % from the previous week. Pricing in long-term contracts signed in the last three months remained flat at $ 1,373 per FEU, while overall long-term contract rates were likewise steady at $ 1,538 per FEU.
