Gateway to growth
Located in the heart of one of the world’ s largest consumer regions, Broward County’ s Port Everglades benefits from approximately 156 million visitors statewide and more than 6 million residents within a 100-mile radius.
As one of Florida’ s leading economic generators, the port supports international trade and cruise travel. It is also South Florida’ s primary seaport for receiving energy products such as gasoline, jet fuel and alternative fuels.
Port Everglades handles more than 1 million TEUs of containerized cargo annually, ranks as Florida’ s top port for perishables and No. 8 in the US, and is a leader in the North-South trade lane.
Strategic advantages
The port provides it’ s cargo customers with an unrivaled competitive edge with its direct access to the interstate highway system and Florida East Coast Railway’ s near-dock, 43-acre intermodal container transfer facility.
Foreign-Trade Zone No. 25 provides Broward County-based businesses with additional ways to compete globally while investing locally.
Six new super-post-Panamax gantry cranes and an expansive turning notch with five berths in the Southport cargo area enhance global trade efficiency. Combined with real-time video for truck flow management and terminal investments in equipment and appointment systems, these improvements support operational productivity.
Port Everglades is among the top 20 % of ports worldwide for operational performance, according to the latest Container Port Performance Index( CPPI) developed by the World Bank and S & P Global Market Intelligence.
Infrastructure investments The port is updating its Master / Vision
Plan, identifying $ 3 billion in capital investments to enhance productivity for cargo, cruise and energy operations.
Ongoing improvements include bulkhead replacements to support safe navigation and adjust for projected sea level rise, along with upgrades to seven Samsung container gantry cranes.
The upcoming Slip 1 Expansion, a public-private development, will widen the berth by 150 feet to accommodate Aframax petroleum carriers.
