Annual containerized exports, in laden TEUs
The Journal of Commerce Top 25 North American Container Ports by Exports handled 95.6 %( nearly 14 million TEUs) of the 14.6 million TEUs in total North American containerized exports in 2025. Total export volumes at the Top 25 North American ports, which include 17 US ports, four in Canada and four in Mexico, rose 2.7 % year over year in 2025. Leading the outbound North American container trade in 2025 were the ports of Houston, Los Angeles and New York-New Jersey, with a combined volume of 4.3 million TEUs, up 6.7 % year over year and representing 29.6 % of overall North American exports.
