The Journal of Commerce Top 25 North American Container Ports by Imports handled 96.4 %( 33.8 million TEUs) of the 35.1 million TEUs in total North American containerized imports in 2025. Total import volumes at the Top 25 North American ports, which include 16 US ports, four in Canada and five in Mexico, rose 0.7 % year over year in 2025. Leading the inbound North American container trade in 2025 were the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and New York-New Jersey, with a combined volume of 14.6 million TEUs, up 1 % year over year and representing 41.6 % of total North American imports.
