The Journal of Commerce Top 15 US ports by imports from Asia handled 98.9 % of the 5.65 million TEUs in US imports from Asia in the first four months of 2024 , a volume increase of 19.1 % year over year and 25.1 % from January through April 2020 . The top 5 US ports accounted for 75.1 % ( 4.24 million TEUs ) of the eastbound trans-Pacific trade through April , up from 74.1 % ( 3.51 million TEUs ) in the same 2023 period .

The Journal of Commerce Top 15 US ports by exports to Asia handled 98.3 % of the 1.83 million TEUs in US exports to Asia in the first four months of 2024 , a volume increase of 3.7 % year over year but a decrease of 7.7 % from January through April 2020 . The top 5 US ports accounted for 64.5 % ( 1.2 million TEUs ) of the westbound trans-Pacific trade through April , up from 62.2 % ( 1.1 million TEUs ) in the same 2023 period .
