The Journal of Commerce Top 15 trans-Pacific container lines carried 99.8 % of the 5.65 million TEUs in US imports from Asia in the first four months of 2024 , a volume increase of 19.1 % year over year and 25.1 % from January through April 2020 . The top 5 carriers accounted for 65.7 % ( 3.71 million TEUs ) of the eastbound trans-Pacific trade through April , down from 67.3 % ( 3.19 million TEUs ) in the same 2023 period .

The Journal of Commerce Top 15 trans-Pacific container lines carried 99.9 % of the 1.83 million TEUs in US exports to Asia in the first four months of 2023 , a volume increase of 3.7 % year over year but a decrease of 7.7 % from January through April 2020 . The top 5 carriers accounted for 70.4 % ( 1.29 million TEUs ) of the westbound trans-Pacific trade through April , down from 71.6 % ( 1.27 million TEUs ) in the same 2023 period .
