The spot rate climbed to $ 1.81 on Jan . 4 , 2025 , a notable increase from $ 1.75 on Dec . 21 , 2024 , representing a 3.4 % growth . When compared to the previous year , this rate signifies a 4.6 % increase from the $ 1.73 recorded on Jan . 6 , 2024 . Xeneta aggregates freight rates for both short-term contracts valid for less than 32 days , and long-term contract that are valid for 87 days or more . Terminal Handling Charges ( THCs ) are excluded . The Jan . 15 , 2025 average spot rate from Asia to US West Coast was $ 5,150 per FEU , up 0.3 % from the previous week . Rates in long-term contracts signed in the last three months decreased 12 %, to $ 2,118 from the previous week . Within the same period , long-term contracts up 0.9 %, to $ 2,102 from the previous week .
