APM to build Louisiana container terminal to rival MSC facility

Two competing ocean carriers have officially begun a port terminal arms race in Louisiana . Maersk subsidiary APM Terminals has announced plans to build a new post- Panamax container terminal at the Port of Plaquemines that will rival a planned facility led by Maersk ’ s soon-to-be former alliance partner Mediterranean Shipping Co . ( MSC ) and the Port of New Orleans ( Port NOLA ).
