Global Congestion and the Impact on Refrigerated Shipping: A TPM Cold Chain Webcast
August 20, 2025, 11:00 AM EDT
When the Trump administration in early April announced a 90-day pause on“ reciprocal” tariffs with much of the world and a subsequent 90-day pause on China tariffs, it unleashed a torrent of cargo into the global supply chain. Predictably, the spike in demand overwhelmed ports across Asia and Europe, leading to delays in ship berthing ranging from days to, in some cases, two weeks. With much of that cargo heading to the US ahead of the July and August deadlines, fears of similar congestion are growing at major US gateways. For shippers of refrigerated goods, those delays exponentially increase the risk of spoilage and waste at its worst, but even in the best case can drive up costs rapidly, spark equipment shortages, and lead to shortages and domino-effect delays down the line. In an environment of high uncertainty, refrigerated shippers are living on a knife edge as they decide how much, when and where to ship their goods with as little risk as possible in a market fraught with it. https:// bit. ly / 4kSTzeu

Breakbulk and Project Cargo Outlook: How Tariffs and Geopolitical Strife Will Impact the Rest of 2025
September 11, 2025, 10:00 AM EDT
Tariffs, intensifying conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine, a slowing global economy and increased competition from the container shipping fleet are all driving heightened uncertainty in the multipurpose and heavy-lift vessel( MPV / HL) market. Project investors started the year with a wait-and-see attitude, and shippers rushed to frontload some commodities in the first half even as charter rates rose, fell and rose again. This webcast will examine cargo demand and MPV / HL fleet supply and makeup amid a tumultuous geopolitical environment. Join Breakbulk and Project Cargo Senior Research Analyst Susan Oatway, Niclas Prehm, head of research at Toepfer Transport, publisher of the Toepfer Multipurpose Index, and Justin Archard, shipbroker with Friday & Co. and creator of the Multipurpose and Breakbulk Market Sentiment Index, as they discuss their expectations for the remainder of the year. https:// bit. ly / 4ngr8JZ

Ports fear emissions grants under threat amid EPA budget slashing
US ports are worried that potential cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency’ s( EPA) 2026 budget will make it more difficult to phase out diesel-powered yard equipment and are urging Congress to maintain grant programs meant to reduce carbon emissions from their operations. https:// bit. ly / 4o1eezX
