The tightening of truckload capacity and a surge in diesel prices are beginning to reset transportation rates. Dry-van spot rates including fuel are up about 20 % from a year ago, according to DAT Freight & Analytics. Crackdowns on holders of nondomiciled commercial driver’ s licenses and stricter English-language proficiency enforcement are constraining truckload capacity. US diesel prices, driven higher by the war in the Middle East, hit $ 5.37 per gallon on March 24, according to the US Energy Information Administration.

Xeneta Asia to US West Coast short and long-term rates
Xeneta aggregates freight rates for both short-term contracts valid for less than 32 days, and long-term contracts valid for 87 days or more. Terminal Handling Charges( THCs) are excluded. The March 19, 2026, average spot rate from Asia to the US West Coast was $ 1,531 per FEU, up 5.7 % from the previous week. Pricing in long-term contracts signed in the last three months remained flat at $ 1,500 per FEU, while overall long-term contract rates were likewise steady at $ 1,551 per FEU.
